Early Career and Collaborations
Paul Verhoeven, a Dutch filmmaker, got his start in the entertainment industry as a co-scriptwriter for two of his own films: Soldier of Orange (1977) and Flesh + Blood (1985).
He also had a stint as a director for an episode of HBO's The Hitchhiker, a popular anthology horror series from the 1980s.
