A Century of Gridiron Rivalry

The cities of Neenah and Menasha, Wisconsin, are preparing for a momentous gridiron clash. On October 14th, the Neenah Rockets and Menasha Bluejays will meet for the 100th time in a rivalry that dates back to 1922. This historic matchup will mark a milestone in the annals of high school football in the Fox Valley.

A Temporary Pause

Adding to the significance of this game is the fact that it will be the last regular-season meeting between the two schools for the foreseeable future. After this season, Menasha will join the Bay Conference, while Neenah will remain in the Fox Valley Association.

This change will bring an end to one of the most storied rivalries in Wisconsin high school football. The Rockets and Bluejays have a combined 19 state championships and have produced numerous college and professional football players.

A Look Back at the Rivalry

The Neenah-Menasha rivalry has been filled with memorable moments over the years. In 1948, the Rockets defeated the Bluejays 60-0 in a game that is still the largest margin of victory in the series.

In 1998, the Bluejays won a thrilling 28-27 overtime game that clinched the Fox Valley Association championship.

The rivalry has also been marked by sportsmanship and camaraderie. In 1988, the two teams played a game in Green Bay's Lambeau Field to raise money for a local charity.

Preparing for the Milestone Matchup

Both Neenah and Menasha are preparing diligently for the upcoming clash. The Rockets are looking to extend their winning streak against the Bluejays to four games.
